My Personal Challenge: Progress Over Perfection
If you’ve been following me on social media, you might know that I recently adapted a version of the 75 Hard Challenge to better fit my lifestyle and goals. It’s been a great reminder that health isn’t one-size-fits-all, and that showing up—even imperfectly—is far better than not showing up at all.
I recently shared a graphic that really resonated with me, and I know it’ll hit home for many of you too. It said:
“I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but eating non-organic produce is better than not eating produce at all. If you can’t afford organic right now, that’s okay!”
This message is so important because we often let perfect be the enemy of good. And that mindset? It’s holding us back.
The Perfection Trap
How many times have you made a big New Year’s resolution, only to give up a few days later when things didn’t go as planned?
We’ve all been there.
We set these huge goals—“I’m going to work out every day, eat perfectly, drink a gallon of water, meditate, journal, stretch, and go to bed by 9!”—and by Day 4, life happens. We miss a workout. We grab fast food. We forget to drink water. And suddenly… we feel like we’ve failed.
So we quit.
But here’s the truth: You didn’t fail. You just hit a bump. And instead of giving yourself grace, perfection told you to stop.
The Overwhelm of Comparison
The internet can be a powerful place. We have access to endless information and inspiration. But with that comes the pressure of comparison—the influencer with the perfect morning routine, the Pinterest-worthy meal preps, the airbrushed “reality.”
It’s overwhelming. And sometimes it stops us before we even start.
Start Anyway
If you take one thing from this post, let it be this:
But START.
Your health journey isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being consistent. About showing up for yourself even when it’s messy. Especially when it’s messy.
