Dear Athletes,The coronavirus is creating worldwide panic, but we wanted to share some good news with you.First: You’ve done everything you can to prepare yourself for a sickness. Strong, fit people are hard to kill, and they bounce back fast. You’ve taken care of yourself. You eat well and you’re tough as nails. Coronavirus is worried about you.Second: In Orlando, we’re well away from places like China, Italy, Seattle and New York. That gives us some time to prepare. We have friends abroad who are already in very tough positions, but we’ve got a little time to make plans. And, we’ve done and are doing just that… planning. We had a staff meeting at 12:30 today, and everyone is on board.Third: Spring is coming. It is already hot in Florida. I spoke with a client this morning who is the CEO of a major hospital, and he said once temperatures hit the 90s, COVID-19 is going to have a tough time surviving.Fourth: We’re in close contact with a huge number of gym owners… proactive awesome gym owners at that. We are contact with our mentors. We’re learning from them so we can help you and put plans in place. Read on.General ProceduresIn the short term, please observe the following:
Long-Term PlansGiven the worldwide situation, there is the potential that gyms and other public spaces will be forced to shut down. We’ll listen for all info from the government and follow its procedures.Should we be forced to shut down, we will not stop coaching or running training sessions. We are in talks with Celebration Parks & Rec regarding renting fields in town to conduct bootcamp style workouts. In a total lockdown situation, we will use Zoom (think Skype, but for businesses) to conduct classes, personal training sessions, nutrition consults, goal reviews, and potential client meetings. We take a lot of pride in being a lighthouse: We never go dark. And, we want you to keep working out, even if the government won’t let you do it at 58 Riley Road. You didn’t pay for access to a facility. You can get that at a Globo Gym (think Gold’s Gym/LA Fitness). You paid for COACHING, and we are experts at that. Luckily, in the world of technology, we can provide that online. In the future, we will continue to post workouts every day, and we’ll add detailed descriptions, as well as options using common household items. We will also use technology to connect with you and lead you through sessions while your peers are connected at the same time. We’re up for the challenge. If major lockdown measures occur, we will move to a personalized programming model. You will continue to see value. We refuse to just post a general “At-Home” workout and say “go for it, we’ll talk to you when the world resumes” – CCF will continue. We are out in front of this. Here’s what you can do to prepare for this possibility:
We hope there are no breaks in service at our gym, but if we are required to close due to local regulations, we will. But, we will not leave you high and dry. We’ll be offering the same enthusiasm, programming and energy over the Internet. You’re a person who works out. And, we’re going to make sure that continues. This is not the time to stop working out. Your immune system depends on it.As always, we thank you. We are here for all of you during this time of need. Let us know if you have any questions.Kind Regards,Erik & Kaycie Lipetz -- Owners @ Celebration CrossFit
