The CrossFit Open

2020 is finally over. What we want is for everything to go back to normal. But the old normal is no more. Following along those lines is the New CrossFit Open. 2021 will have a 3 week Open instead of the usual 5 week competition. There are now Quarterfinals and Regional events. Despite all the changes, the Open is the same old Open from years past. It will still show you your strengths and your weaknesses. It will still contain challenging movements and workouts. The Open will also still be incredibly fun. Ask anybody that has been doing CrossFit for a few years and, surely, some of their fondest memories will be from the Open. Think about the Open as a celebration. It shows all the hard work you’ve put on throughout the year and where it has led you to. Obviously 2020 was not like years past and not all of us had the chance to train as much and as effectively as we would have liked. We’ve been back to “normal” training for a few months now and we are starting to ramp up our workouts for the Open. We get a chance to test our fitness and have fun while doing it. We get a chance to cheer and be cheered on by our friends from the gym. If you are an experienced CrossFitter or if you have just started training with us, I hope you take this opportunity to experience what CrossFit and its community is all about. Now that we are back in our gyms we have the opportunity to work on some things that we haven’t been able to during lockdown. We all have those movements that we hate seeing in workouts, or movements we know we aren't very good at. Part of what we preach is that we should work on our weaknesses to be well-rounded in our fitness. The Open will definitely test us in every way. So use these next few weeks to tackle those movements! Also, at Celebration CrossFit we offer add-on programming for those who want to get better at some specific skill or strength that is holding them back. If you want help with our add-on or personalized programming options, let one of your coaches know! By Coach Matt
