Christi Palmer: CCF Athlete Feature

Christi is 8 months into her journey at Celebration CrossFit, and it has been a joy to watch her make gains, accomplish goals, and integrate herself into the community.  As an avid 8pm’er, Christi stays consistent even though her professional life at Amazon keeps her BUSY. Team “No Excuses” here!  Keep that drive and determination going, Christi. We look forward to your future victories!

During a recent interview with Coach Kaycie, Christi gave us the scoop regarding her time training at Celebration CrossFit over past 8 months. Check out what she had to say below:

What brought you to Celebration CrossFit in the first place?

“In April I was relocated to Orlando with Amazon. I had been an active member of a box in Atlanta for 3 years, but had been in New Jersey for the previous 6 months and had not been doing CrossFit.  I missed CrossFit so much, the first thing I needed to do was find a good Box. I reached out to many fellow CrossFitters asking which box to try in the area. Every single one said they loved Celebration CrossFit! I then reached out to Coach Erik and scheduled a meeting, and since that day I have been a member of CCF!”

What was your first impression? How has that changed?

“My first class… I remember walking in and meeting Zach Sawyer. We instantly struck up a conversation, and he is still one of my faves at CCF! I was nervous to be back, and I knew that I had to embrace “the suck” that was about to begin. I instantly realized that this was where I was supposed to be. The coaches are amazing, they spend time making sure your form is right, and push you to your limits. Now, that I look back, I notice that I didn’t realize, at the time, what an awesome community I was joining. I have made so many friends, and love working out with our ‘Girls Crew’ at 8pm. Shout out to my girls- Jana, Elizabeth, Kaitlin and Amanda!”

What was your first bright spot or win?

“About 2 years ago I had a surgery that literally reduced my core to mush. My front squat has suffered ever since, but a couple of months ago I was able to get a 1 rep max of #135. That was a big win for me, but nothing tops the #95 Overhead Squat for a 3 rep max that I was able to achieve at a recent competition in October.”

What are you working on now?

“I am super focused on trying to get a pull-up, and hope to get kipping pull-ups in the next 6 months. I am focused on increasing strength in my upper body, and continuing to come in and give everything I have each day.”

What is your favorite memory at Celebration CrossFit?

“I would have to say the first night I walked out on the softball field with the CCF Barbell Bombers! I couldn’t believe the amount of talent we had at our Box, and I instantly connected with new members I hadn’t met yet! And to top it off, we went on to be the league champions at the end of the season! I look forward to making many more memories at CCF, and I’m looking forward to my first Open with this great group of people!”
